A couple of interesting odditties:
I did not object to the object.
Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
They were too close to the door to close it.
Reading these out loud (or at least in my head), the emphasis (inflection) seems different when it means something else. Although not conveyed in written form.
This illustrates that written and spoken communication can be different to an extent and that context is important .. no surprises I guess.
My 30 second lingustic analysis would indicate that:
- Verbs – Upward inflect at the end
- Nouns – Downward inflect at the end
