Military building attack insects !

So The livejournal Cyberpunk Community found out that Military are Building Robotic Insects .

A new development will reportedly see the WASP fitted with a C4 explosive warhead for kamikaze attacks on snipers.

It’s stuff like this that 10 – 20 years ago really seemed like paranoid science fiction or an episode of the X-files.

I mentioned before in Stealth sharks to patrol the high seas nearly a year ago about modded military sharks on the loose.

Also in February last year I found out about Robocarp, Dolphins and Swimware – using Dolphins to find sea mines, disarm underwater saboteurs. As well as other cyborg fish or augmented aquatic animals technology.

The gap between science fiction and reality is miniscule. Who knows whether this is more Research and Development than practical use. How do the current day science fiction authors extrapolate this kind of technology? Probably in the same cyberpunk fiction way, focus on the social and cultural impact.
